Shear Blast Support – Lifts, Material Handling & Site Coordination

Despard Contracting recently supported a large-scale shear blast operation that involved multiple high-intensity lifts and extensive material management. This job required a coordinated effort alongside blasting crews to ensure each phase of the blast progressed safely, efficiently, and with full logistical support.

Our team worked in direct collaboration with the blasters, providing hands-on assistance throughout the entire operation. The project involved sequential lifts—approximately 10 feet at a time—executed with precision to control blast progression and minimize disruption to surrounding areas. With each lift, our crew handled the complex task of sorting, relocating, and managing large volumes of displaced rock and debris, ensuring the site remained organized and accessible at all times.

Material handling was a critical component of this job. Despard’s operators ensured that rubble was systematically cleared, re-used where possible, and properly staged for removal or repurposing. Equipment coordination and on-the-fly adjustments were key, with safety protocols upheld at every stage of the operation.
